The Construction goes on

Here at Calvary we are moving on in our construction with the another phase of construction which included the moving of the
entrance to the church to another place along the road.  We've been noticing our vehicles move a bit too close to the children and was putting them in danger.  Another problem we had was the gate was way to close to the personal residences.  So by moving the gate we have expanded the fellowship are of the church by 3 times.  here are some pics

The construction continues

At Calvary Chapel things continue to boom in the area of construction.  So what has happened so far?
Phase 1 we broke out the back wall and put the double doors to open up the back of the church
Phase 2 the foundation of the church was extended 15 feet
phase 3( in process) anothe additional two feet were added onto the church and steps were placed, along with an easy access ramp
Phase 4(also in process)  To make room for the addition of the church we have adjusted the existing internal fence line to provide space for the congregants and their children on sunday.
Phase 5(also in process)The church windows at the current have the very mosquito screening that existed back in 1998.  Obviously being that they are so old they are rust colored and filled with dead bugs.  To make the church look even better we have removed the screens and will replace them increasing the amount of light that comes into the church
Well these are all the things that have been happening around Calvary.  Please keep in prayer for us that all the things that are need will be accomplished

BWO TEAM 2008

Every year about the time of June a team comes to us from the humble city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The church that organizes that team is called Believers center and the mission program is called Believers World Outreach.  Two weeks ago they descended upon Jinja with a team of 58.  Among them were a few groups assigned to different tasks.  The main group that benefited the church was the Outreach team.  We had a team of 21 and went to several outer lying communities to share the Good News of Christ.  Along with visiting the communities we also went to primary and high schools.  All in all the ministry went really well and we hope to see great things out of the programs

Team Albuquerque 2008 pt 1

Team Albuquerque officially arrived last tuesday and we've been enjoying them ever since.  So far we have done a lot of construction on the church ie digging the foundation, removing a large tree and taking up an old concrete slab.  We also went to a school yesterday to do an outreach.  It went really well the kids really enjoyed.  the team brought two huge balls and the kids nearly killed themselves playing with them.  our visitors will be here for a little more than a week and a half so there is more to come.......

Church extension phase two

Well on Monday we began the next phase of the church extension program.  The first phase finished about 3 months ago.  The first phase was removing the two offices a t what was the back of the church.  Once we removed those two rooms we extended the church added a stage and changed the whole direction of the  church.
Phase two:  for the last three months we have enjoyed the new remodeled ceiling and direction change.  Phase two is opening up the back wall with two giant foldable doors.  our purpose is to get more air in the church.  So on Monday we broke out the back wall Tuesday we placed the door jams and by the end of the week we should have the doors placed.

True Love Waits Conference

Just last week our church took 4o students to the town called Entebbe.  The reason was, it was time for our School break youth conference.  It was a funny conference in some ways.  It just seemed to keep getting delayed and after changing the date three times we finally arrived.
I wanted to bring a theme for the students that would lit  erally rock their world.  I really think we did with True love waits.  Between all the the teachers our sessions were a combonation of  expository teaching with a huge dose of real life situations.  My vision for the conference was to really deal with the issues that are ruining lives and keeping the students from God's Best.
The conference was for two days and was held at he zoo in Entebbe.  So if we had free time the kids could go look at Rhino or exotic birds or any other animal they desired to see.

Youth Night Fancy fancy

Youth night Fancy fancy

On Saturday night we had what Ryan calls a "fancy fancy." Basically it is a youth outreach
for those inside Jinja. We encourage our kids to bring their unsaved friends or anyone they can
think of. The program on Saturday was a lot of fun. We had some games and them we had a
miming contest. I know what your thinking, french guys with white faces and striped outfits. Well no
in fact it is much like milli vanilli(if you can remember back that far), the DJ puts on the music and the kids
moves their lips but done make a peep. So then after that we had a guest speaker Kevin Little come up
and preach the Gospel to the kids. Then we danced, hip hop, African you name it. kids had a great time

The Childrens Church

In the last year one of our big decisions was to overhaul the Children's Ministry. So what changed? Originally the kids would all sing separately in their classrooms and be led by the individual teachers. Well everything was changed, instead of meeting separately we have one main sanctuary where all the kids can worship and enjoy fellowship together. Also another addition is a puppet show which I think it done about every other week(by our School of Ministry interns). The exciting thing is since changing the way we do things we can have some 150+ children in a week and sometimes up to three hundred.
Please pray for our Children's Ministry that as the kids come more and more
that we would have the people to handle them.

The Latest in construction

Changes, changes, changes. What do you do when you cannot fit everyone
inside the church on Christmas. That is the problem we had this last year
we had so many children that we had half of the church filled with them. To fix
this problem our main construction and achitect type person Keith Carpenter
began working on a three-phase project. The ambitious project would include
knocking out the wall dividing the sanctuary from an old office and bathroom
and extending the church another 9 feet in length. The next step was changing
the entire direction of the church to face west. Since we were going to face a whole
new direction we had a whole new stage area built with storage units and everything.
So what is the next phase? well soon as the money flows in we will be knocking
out a space for a giant new entrance to the church, which will be where the front of
the church was. Things are definitely changing around here with the addition of some
small outdoor speakers so congregants with noisy children can also enjoy. Please
pray with us as this project goes on so we can accomplish our goals
our goals for right now:
*break out the walls, make and install the doors
*have 10 additional pews made for the sanctuary

What's going on with the main church?

Spring is said to be a time of new ideas matching with nature and its reinvention
at the end up winter. For us here at Calvary there have been a lot of changes just
with in the last month. One change in particular is the music. For the longest
time we had a model of choir led worship in the church. However the Elders
came to one conclusion as they looked at the churches response; they saw that
people didn't involve themselves or worship. In the course of time we decided that
Ryan McCabe, A missionary working with CC Jinja would begin leading the worship
ministry. So what has happened? Well for one the church is worshipping again and
people are beginning to enjoy the services more. Along with the music change we began seeing
many new faces appear in church. Are you planning on visiting Jinja then drop by
and visit us.
Welcome to the brand new Calvary Chapel Jinja blog. Please come and check out the blog
at any time to find out the latest news with the church, the ministries, and the missionaries. The
whole idea is to keep people in touch without having to redesign a website every time like the
main website. So please enjoy!
